Dawlish Repertory Company is once again hosting the Teignmouth & Dawlish Drama Festival of One Act Plays in March, and this year will be entering the competition with a short play written by Dave Davies, a long time member. The play is on the face of it a detective story, but has a "Tales of the Unexpected" style twist which will keep the audience guessing. The short play itself will probably take 20-30 minutes to perform (the Festival rules state it can be no more than 55 minutes max including set up and scene changes).  The One Act Play Festival (see below for more information) runs from the 15th to 17th March, and is open to amateur theatre groups and youth theatre groups in our region. If you would be interested in taking part, the combined read-through and auditions will be held on Monday 29th January from 7.30pm where anyone who might be interested in taking part can come along.  You will obviously get to read the play, along with others, but also will meet the director and author (Dave Davies), and can ask any questions you might have about the rehearsal process, and the production.  There are parts for two women (aged 30-40 - a nurse and a police sergeant) and two men (aged 35-45 and 55-65 - a police inspector and a doctor). If the play is successful, there will be further heats as the play progresses through the national competition.

You do not need to be a member of  Dawlish Repertory Company to come along to the auditions, although if you were offered a part or a role in the production you would need to join. We hope to see you there!
