1916 Film : The Battle of the Somme

As part of Dawlish's programme to commemorate the Centenary of the First World War, we present the original film of the Battle of the Somme, using restored material filmed on the Somme battlefield in 1916. The film carries a PG rating as there are scenes of dead and wounded. The original film is in black and white, being shot in 1916, and is silent, but has a modern music sound track. The original silent movie captions are shown. There is an 8 minute spoken introduction by Dr Toby Haggith.
